Lee Bailey

Mr. Bailey is a Managing Director based in Los Angeles and serves as one of the Firm's two Managing Partners. Prior to joining USRG, Mr. Bailey was a partner with Rustic Canyon Partners ("Rustic Canyon") where he focused on investing in energy based companies. Mr. Bailey started his career as a lawyer and then held several senior management positions with Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: ENER), an energy technology development company. He has over 15 years of operating experience in technology-based companies, fund management and government service, primarily in the areas of energy and IT. Prior to joining Rustic Canyon, Mr. Bailey was the founding director of a $60 million joint U.S.-Israeli government fund. Mr. Bailey also served as the White House Director for International Science and Technology Commercialization Programs from 1995 to 1997, where he represented the U.S. government in promoting its strategy of privatization and commercialization of technology developed in Russia, Egypt, Israel and South Africa. In addition, Mr. Bailey has served as the CEO of several start-up companies, including the Rural Health Care Corporation.

Joshua Haacker

Joshua Haacker

Mr. Haacker is a Managing Director based in Los Angeles. Mr. Haacker oversees USRG investments in the renewable power and infrastructure sectors. Prior to joining USRG, Mr. Haacker served as Manager of Markets and Business Development for AES Corporation’s North America West group where he led and supported various development and financing activities within the group’s portfolio. Mr. Haacker’s development experience with AES covered both greenfield development and acquisitions across numerous types of power and fuels projects including natural gas, coal, petroleum coke, biomass, hydro and ethanol. Prior to AES, he served as a consultant for the Rocky Mountain Institute where his work included drafting the biofuels chapters of the book Winning the Oil Endgame, and advising utilities on Integrated Resource Planning and Demand Response programs. In addition to his experience in the energy sector, Mr. Haacker spent three years in pulp and paper Operations Management roles with Procter & Gamble.

Mr. Haacker is active in the management of FFP New Hydro, Recovery Technology Solutions, ThermaSource, Bottle Rock Power, Oski Energy and Davenport Newberry Holdings. Mr. Haacker holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he graduated summa cum laude.

James Mcdermott

Mr. McDermott is a Managing Director based in Los Angeles and one of the firm's two Managing Partners. Mr. McDermott has operational control of the firm's day-to-day activities. Prior to forming USRG, Mr. McDermott started his career as a public power banker with First Boston's Municipal Finance Group in New York. While at First Boston, he worked with Southern California Public Power Authority, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Washington Public Power Supply System and several other West Coast municipal utilities and investor owned utilities. As a private equity investor, Mr. McDermott worked for Prudential's Private Capital Group and Allen & Company. As an entrepreneur, Mr. McDermott has started, run and invested in the following companies:, Inc. (NASDAQ: STMP) (Founder and CEO), Spoke Software, Inc. (Founder and CEO), Archive, Inc. (Founder and CEO), Practice Technologies Inc. (Investor and Board Member), NanoH2O, Inc. (Founder and Board Member) and OH Energy, Inc. (Founder & Board Member).

Jose Ordonez

Mr. Ordóñez is a Managing Director based in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Mr. Ordóñez has 25 years of experience as CEO of independent power producers and as an energy investment banker and private equity investor. Prior to joining USRG, Mr. Ordóñez was CEO of Pan American Hydro Corporation (PAH), a Canadian developer of run-of-river hydropower projects in Latin America. Prior to joining PAH, he was Managing Partner of Grevillea Capital, a Spanish boutique investment and advisory firm focusing on the European clean energy and renewables markets. In addition, Mr. Ordóñez has held the role of CEO of Global3 Energía, a Spanish independent power producer owned by ArcLight Capital, and as head of Citigroup's Latin American Power Group, where he completed over $12 billion in M&A and capital-raising transactions. Mr. Ordóñez received his MBA and JD from Stanford Business School and Stanford Law School, respectively, and his B.A. in Economics (magna cum laude) from the University of Maryland.
